An abyss - an immersive sound & dance piece

An abyss is a new, collaborative work by dancers & choreographers Sophie Vergères (CH), David Lagerqvist (SWE) and German composer & sound designer Philipp Rumsch. The full-length, immersive piece combines elements from concert, dance, performance and sound installation. In An Abyss, the three artists deal with the multiple crises of our time. In various images they depict dramatic states of repetition, chaos, fatigue and powerlessness, but also their hopeful opposing forces. The piece was premiered at ZiMMT in Leipzig in an extraordinary 3D audio setup consisting of 36 speakers. The artists are planning to tour the piece in 2024 & 2025 and expand it to version for 5-7 performers. Philipp Rumsch is working on an album version of the music in Dolby Atmos to be released later this year.
